Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Self Care In-Person
Self-Care is not optional!
Although this workshop is open to all, it is offered at this time to pro-actively offer self-care tools during Black History Month. Reducing or managing stress may minimize the risk of heart disease and stroke among African Americans. It is an important part of self-care. African Americans are 50% more likely to die of a stroke and 30% more likely to die of a heart attack than non-Hispanic whites. Life can be challenging for everyone and when you add dealing with racism, prejudice, and microaggressions, it can be even more challenging. That’s why self-care is not optional for African Americans and other people of color. - Center for African American Health
This workshop will explore the five core competencies of Social Emotional Learning and focus on Self Awareness & Self Care. The participant will have an interactive and memorable experience. The participants will take away new perspectives on self; the environments around them, and new coping skills and tools for life’s personal and professional challenges.
"...taking an active role in protecting one’s own well-being and happiness. Practicing self-care consistently leads to living a life that is happy, healthy, and peaceful". -caahealth.org
